Day Walk Grading System:

GRADE 1

Suburban streets

Compacted trail, footpath No technical sections. Well signposted. Walks generally less then 10km (each day).

GRADE 2

You Yangs

Compacted trail, steady inclines or moderate well defined steps. Some fitness needed. No technical sections. Well signposted. Walks generally 8 – 11kms in length (each day).

GRADE 3

Otway's national park

Short to moderate hill sections, stairs or uneven surfaces. Occasional sustained hills. Some fitness needed. May include small technical sections. Reasonably well signposted. Walks generally range from 12-18km.

GRADE 4

Mount Macedon

Tracks may be long, uneven, steep and rough in places. Undefined stairs, rocks or slippery surfaces. General fitness needed. Some technical sections, logs, drops etc. Some navigation required.Walks generally range from 15-25km

GRADE 5

Cathedral Ranges

Uneven, steep tracks scrambling may be needed. Good fitness needed. Frequent Technical sections: chains, ladders, rocks. Careful navigation required at times. Walks range from 15km up to 30km

Kurth Kiln Bunyip State Forest

This walk will take in a range of tracks in the Kurth Kiln Forest and be a grade 3 walk around 14-17km long. The forest is typical of Melbourne’s east and the day out may be pretty hot, and certainly full of chatter as you catch up with old and new friends and enjoy one of those pleasant long walks on easy trails.

Join us on this interesting walk to stroll around the tracks and trails or the Labertouche geological Reserve. is a stream passage cave developed in Tynong Granite, and as well as walking, provides some wonderful caving opportunities (not to worry we’ll be staying above ground on this trip)! Possibly some muddy sections and a mixture of four-wheel drive tracks and walking trails will allow us to explore this lower section of the Bunyip State Park.

The Masons Falls Circuit is a lovely hike through the regenerating bush that clearly shows the impact of the Kinglake fires. There are large parts of the track that did seem to escape the tragic fires, with Masons Falls themselves being simply delightful and a great cascade to sit and watch.

Lerderderg State Park is where a myriad of tracks, gullies, creeks and ridges form a wild, rugged environment. The striking feature of this area is the 300-metre deep gorge that stretches south to the plains of Bacchus Marsh, almost bisecting the park. Our walk winds explores both the winding scenic valleys and ridgelines plus explores some every unique and interesting gold mining relics.

Sauntering Sherbrooke

This walk meanders along pathways and through the tallest flowering hardwood in the world, the Mountain Ash (Eucalyptus regnans) with an understorey of a variety of fern species.

Anakie Gorge Circuit

Join us for this delightful exploration of one of Melbourne's lesser-known gorges. Great walking tracks combined with views, make this a great all-rounder walk.
